Two wonderful singers unfortunately burdened with an accompaniment that is overly careful and somewhat pedestrian.

On rehearing I make a correction. This Ruggiero IS flawless and more movingly emotional that almost everybody Ive heard in this piece. Too bad the excellent orchestral contribution was slightly marred by the overly decorated lute continuo in the final ritornello.
Infinite sadness, infinite regret - as long as this Affekt is heard in the voice during all the reps. of the refrain "Verdi prati ... la belta", then it is one performance in a million. Here Beaumont is practically flawless -- also very sensitive to changes in the text.

Il mio mezzosoprano preferito, dotata di una voce grande, timbro personalissimo e forte presenza scenica. Non ha niente da invidiare a molte colleghe, una voce così può cantare tutto, davvero complimenti, :)

@@TheXinver Wish I could have been there. Ms. Podles is a very versatile singer. I saw her sing the title role (Giulio Cesare) in this opera in San Diego, CA in the early 2000's.
